Where to Stay Near Sariska Tiger Reserve: A First-Timer's Guide

First-time Sariska visitors usually ask the same question first: where do I actually sleep? There are three reasonable answers — right by the reserve, in Alwar city, or further out in Jaipur — and the right one depends on how many safari drives you want and how much driving you are willing to do at 5am.

Staying near Sariska itself

The forest-edge stays closest to the reserve gate exist for one reason: to make the morning safari slot painless. If wildlife is the main point of the trip and you want both the sunrise and dusk drives without a long commute either way, this is the option that removes the most friction.

Basing yourself in Alwar

Alwar city is about 36 km from the reserve — a manageable 45-minute to hour drive that still gets you to a morning slot comfortably. The trade-off is a slightly earlier alarm than staying at the gate, in exchange for access to Bala Qila fort, the City Palace, and Siliserh Lake without a separate trip.

Staying in Jaipur and visiting as a day trip

Jaipur works if Sariska is one stop among several and you would rather keep a single base for the whole trip. It means an earlier start — realistically 5:30am to make the morning slot — and generally one safari drive rather than two, since the round trip eats into the day.
